Force Gurkha 5-Door Version launching soon: Spotted testing

The 5-door version of the Force Gurkha SUV has been spotted testing on the road and we expect this new 5-door off-road SUV to be launched in the Indian automobile market soon.

Design

Talking about the design of the new 5-door version of Force Gurkha, the SUV gets most of the design elements from the 3-door version. This includes restyled front and rear bumpers, front grille with ‘Gurkha’ logo instead of the company logo, LED headlights and LED taillights. The external front snorkel is making its look even more muscular. The new 5-door version of the Force Gurkha is much longer than the 3-door model.

The most interesting detail revealed by these new spy shots is that the new 5-door version of the Gurkha will get captain seats for the third row. The 5-door Gurkha is expected to be offered in both 6 and 7-seater versions. This should give the Gurkha a unique seating arrangement, with bench seats in the middle row and captain’s seats in the third row for the 7-seater version or captain’s seats for both the second and third row for the 6-seater version. Features

The 5-door version of the new Force Gurkha is expected to come with the same feature list, including features like a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument console and an analog speedometer and a Tachometer is also included.

The 5-door version of the Force Gurkha will come with tilt and telescopic steering wheel, individual armrest, speed-sensing door locks, power windows, central locking, manual air-conditioning and follow-me-home headlights.

Security

In terms of safety, the 5-door version of the new Force Gurkha is expected to include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, one-touch lane change indicator, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and speed alert.

Engine Power

The 3-door version of the new Force Gurkha is powered by a tried and tested Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre diesel engine, direct-injection, turbocharged diesel engine. This engine is expected to power the upcoming 5-door version of the new Force Gurkha without any changes. This engine is BS6 compliant and produces 91 bhp of peak power and 250Nm of peak torque in the outgoing version of Force Gurkha.

The 5-door version of the new Force Gurkha is also expected to come with a standard 5-speed manual transmission with a low-ratio gearbox. The 5-door version of the Force Gurkha is also expected to come with a low-range transfer case, manual locking front and rear differentials, front suspension and multi-link live axle suspension at the rear. However, the new frame will have to be tuned specifically.

Price

The price of 5-door Force Gurkha may be around Rs 1 lakh more than the 3-door model. The regular 3-door Gurkha is currently priced at Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

5-door Force Gurkha will arrive before 5-door Thar, Jimny

After being a niche three-door, ladder-frame off-roader, the 5-door Force Gurkha will definitely have a lot of mass appeal. Similarly, Mahindra will introduce a 5-door version of the Thar and Maruti Suzuki is also developing a 5-door version of the Jimny specifically for India, so that it can appeal more than the 3-door version. Both these SUVs are expected to be launched in a few years and will rival the Force Gurkha with a 5-door version in the future.

Thoughts about the new Force Gurkha

We expect the new Force Gurkha 5-door version to be more handsome and more family friendly so we expect the Gurkha to still be a powerful 4×4 mountain roadster. The new Force Gurkha 5-door will prove to be good for those who want to go for adventure and touring.
